Laws and rulings in the justice system are necessary for the LGBTQ+ community for many reasons.

When bills are passed and judgments are made, they can significantly help or hinder the people under those jurisdictions. The idea of significance from the justice system does not only apply to bills but also applies to rulings or judges’ decisions about who is right or wrong in a legal situation. The judges make these decisions based on how the jury decides. The jury is influenced by how a lawyer argues their client’s side of the story. In the world today, lawyers are crucial to the LGBTQ+ community because they are helping to fight for their rights.

However, who better to fight for LGBTQ+ rights than a member of the community itself?

As the world slowly becomes a bit more accepting of people who identify as a part of the LGBTQ+ spectrum, rules are going to be changed. The new laws are going to be better for the LGBTQ+ community, but this can’t happen without people fighting for it. And, not only do lawyers get rules changed, but they can also help people get justice when they have gotten wronged. One such example is when people have experienced a hate crime against them.

Hate crimes can cause emotional, physical, and or mental trauma.

When this occurs, the lawyer will help get the victim compensation or legal payback for it. Hate crimes are common against people who identify with racial and or sexual minorities which include the LGBTQ+ community. Hate crimes are cruel and, in some cases, can lead to death. Though this is not always the case, it can be a large-scale assault or something minor. Big or small, a hate crime is still a hate crime, and no society should ever tolerate it.

Not only are hate crimes common, but there are also many other forms of discrimination. Every time someone is found guilty of being discriminant towards people, it shows how lawyers are necessary to help to fight against prejudice to ensure a better future. Companies on local or national levels can be guilty of bias and prejudice, and it can have an impact on people of all types. Discrimination can cause people to feel inferior, disrespected, and overall less than others who follow “social norms” or are in majorities. No person anywhere should ever have to have that feeling of inadequacy, especially for just being true to themselves. Fighting this illegal discrimination through the legal system is what will solve this problem.

Considering a career in Law?

There are many different things that lawyers fight for which means there are many different types of lawyers. If the criminal activity doesn’t interest you, there are lots of different kinds of lawyers that you could consider being. Some of these types include; personal injury, estate planning, corporate, intellectual property, bankruptcy, and immigration, to name a few. With so many different categories to choose from, it is like there is a choice for everyone.

Not many people consider how they could change things for the better, especially for people, young and old, who experience discrimination against them every day. It happens so often that many, many people undermine themselves and convince themselves that they are inferior. It is a tragedy that lots of people believe that they couldn’t possibly make a change, which is the very attitude that withholds the opportunity for change for the future.

It is important to note that not everyone is going to find a position in law, and that is perfectly fine. Not everyone wants to go into law, and not everyone will. Many people don’t know what they want to choose as a career path yet. There are an infinite amount of jobs in the world. Working in the law wasn’t made for everyone. On the reverse of that, everyone wasn’t made to work in the law, and that’s okay. If everyone did the same thing as everyone else, the world would be pretty dull, not to mention it wouldn’t function well.

If you do decide to go into law, then do your best to ensure justice. There is a stereotype that all lawyers are liars and awful people, instead of people fighting to help keep the law working and get what is right for the people. Though it is true that some do lie and cheat and do it only for the money. Unfortunately, so many people are hurt by harmful stereotypes, since these assumptions do not define every lawyer. Many people who are lawyers are passionate about what they do. They have a passion and a fire in their hearts, hoping to achieve justice and peace in the world while helping make a change for the better.

Passion is necessary to ensure that the LGBTQ+ community is safe. If lawyers with the drive to defend what they believe in, they can support and give justice to those who need it. Who else to get justice for the LGBTQ+ community than members of it themselves? Commonly people who are against particular communities are hired to fight for them as their lawyers. But these lawyers do not always try their hardest to preserve justice when it is needed, even if it is for the people they are supposed to defend. Yet this is all due to these few corrupted lawyers’ prejudice. Though definitely, not all lawyers do this, there are the rotten few who make them all seem awful, and this is how the stereotypes are created. Even when it is simple to deny a case, some lawyers will take them and not try their best. When lawyers don’t put forth their best effort, it has a massive negative effect on the communities they’re supposed to defend.

If those who enforce the law are LGBTQ+ or are supportive of the LGBTQ+ community, there is more motivation to fight for it. Meaning, those who hurt it or any other people group are prosecuted, facing punishments for their misdeeds. Justice is found when people are passionate about what they are fighting to protect.

No matter what you decide to take up as a career, it is essential to you that you remember that you should always take pride in what you do and who you are.

You can always try to fight for what you believe is right; however, that doesn’t always mean that you have to be a lawyer to achieve that. Lawyers fight with the law to help ensure that it is kept in check and working. So, if that is how you would want to show people what you believe in and how hard you are willing to fight for it, then being a lawyer may be a career path that you might like to consider.
